The Rapid Expansion of Artificial Intelligence into the Public Domain is About to Disrupt How We Live and Work in Unprecedented Ways. Are We Ready? Are You Ready?
A Worldview Intelligence Conversation Series on AI: Join us for an exploration of the impact of AI on our Global, Professional, and Personal Worldviews
This new generation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be the most disruptive of any witnessed in our generation. Surpassing the evolution of the Internet and social media. More accessible than other disruptive technologies like crypto-currency or block chain. More widespread than ride-sharing companies like Uber or Lyft or companies like AirBnB.
It will have wide-ranging impacts across every sector – some of which we will welcome and some of which we will be challenged by. Many in the technology, scientific and political realms are calling for legislation.
AI can help us solve problems, create new opportunities, and enhance our capabilities. And, yes, it will challenge our assumptions, values, beliefs and worldviews.
At Worldview Intelligence we are hosting a complimentary series of conversations about the impact of AI on our global, professional and personal worldviews. We are curious about the ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of AI and how it might impact our individual and collective identity, agency, and dignity. We also are interested in considering how AI shapes or will shape our relationships, communities, professions, societies and worldviews.
These conversations will be informative for all of us and will contribute to a series of Worldview Intelligence Thought Papers on this topic, intended to help guide our own, and others’, thinking about how the future might unfold. This will shape our efforts in supporting our work and our clients on ethical and other considerations as we move into this new future.
In this CNN article, Brad Smith, Microsoft (MSFT) president and vice chair, said government needs to work faster to regulate AI, which has more potential for the good of humanity than any other invention preceding it.
“Its uses are almost “ubiquitous” Smith said, “in medicine and drug discovery and diagnosing diseases, in scrambling the resources of, say, the Red Cross or others in a disaster to find those who are most vulnerable where buildings have collapsed,” the executive added.
“Smith also said AI isn’t as “mysterious” as many think, adding it is getting more powerful.” This is exactly the conversations we have been having about worldviews and AI.
The three free conversations are listed here with registration information and more information on each one is below. By the way, most of the text for this invitation was generated by ChatGPT with minor edits by us.

Conversation 1: How will AI impact GLOBAL worldviews? (May 18/19, 2023)
AI is a powerful and disruptive technology that can have both positive and negative effects on global worldviews. What will this mean for us as a society and our worldviews, both locally and globally? What role can we play, as interested and concerned citizens, to ensure that AI is developed and used in a responsible, ethical, and inclusive manner that respects human rights and values diversity?
On the positive side, AI can:
+ Help us solve complex problems more efficiently and accurately than humans, which can change our worldviews of what is possible;
+ Lead to new insights and discoveries, which can change our views of the world and specific sectors;
+ Lead to more empathy and connection between nations and communities; and
+ Lead to a more educated global population, with a greater understanding of diverse perspectives and worldviews.
Negatively, it could:
+ Perpetuate biases and reinforce existing beliefs, stereotypes and prejudices, leading to increased polarization and division between groups with differing worldviews;
+ Raise ethical questions such as the responsibility for decisions made by AI systems and the impact on privacy and human rights;
+ Exacerbate existing conflicts and hinder progress towards global cooperation, and globally it could lead to job displacement and economic insecurity.
AI has the potential to change our worldview experiences and perspectives of the world in profound ways. This conversation is an opportunity for us to engage in thoughtful discussion about the role of AI in society.

Conversation 2: How will AI impact professional worldviews? (May 25/26, 2023)
AI will impact professional worldviews in several ways. With an increased ability to analyze large amounts of data, professionals are likely to increasingly rely on data-driven decision making. This could change how professionals view decision-making processes, placing greater emphasis on quantitative analysis and less on intuition and personal experience.
AI can automate routine tasks, freeing up professionals to focus more on creative and innovative work. This could change how we view our roles in organizations, with a greater emphasis on creativity, problem solving, strategic thinking and human interaction.
Because AI can perform certain tasks more quickly and accurately than humans, it could change how professionals view intelligence and expertise. However, as AI becomes more advanced, there is a potential for some jobs to become automated, leading to job displacement. This could impact how professionals view their career path and the long-term stability of their profession. It could relieve some of the strain on healthcare and long-term care as more routine tasks could be done by AI, leaving healthcare professionals more time to interact with the people they are caring for.
Overall, the impact of AI on professional worldviews will depend on how it is accessed and implemented and the specific industry and profession in question. This conversation is an opportunity for us to engage in thoughtful discussion about how the worldviews of professionals may shift, change or be impacted as we think about professional roles.

Conversation 3: How will AI impact personal worldviews? (June 1/2, 2023)
AI can augment human capabilities, automate tasks, and generate new insights. However, AI also poses challenges and risks for personal worldviews, including how our beliefs and values shape the ways we perceive and interact with the world. Many of us are already experiencing the use of AI and/or we may be having emotional reactions to what it could all mean.
Positively, AI can inspire our personal worldviews by offering new possibilities, opportunities, or challenges for human potential and creativity. For example, AI can enable people to learn new skills, explore new domains, or collaborate with others across boundaries. AI can also create new forms of art, culture, or expression that can enrich human experience and imagination.
Negatively, AI can influence personal worldviews by shaping how people access, consume, and evaluate information. For example, AI can filter, recommend, or personalize the information that people see online based on their preferences, behaviors, or profiles. AI can also create or manipulate information such as text, audio, or video that can be misleading, deceptive, or biased. These effects can affect how people form their opinions, beliefs, or values.
AI is a transformative technology that will impact our personal worldviews. It is important for us to be aware of the benefits and risks of AI and to sort out our experiences, beliefs and reactions to the risks and benefits. Will we be displaced as human beings or will our lives be enhanced? This conversation is an opportunity for us to engage in thoughtful discussion ethical and responsible use of AI, explore our reactions and imagine how we can move into a future that inevitably includes AI.
This post is from 2019 so the con of expense might not be so applicable, but the rest of the article on pros and cons of AI are interesting and likely still valid.
